You may haveĀ heard of the 1-1-1 rule. The rule is if the word has 1 syllable, 1 vowel, and it ends in 1 consonant, you double the final consonant before you add ING, ED, ER, & EST. This is helpful to know but can be a little complicated for kids to remember.

While no jingles or patterns are 100%, this does work most of the time so I have found it helpful to teach. I hope you find it helpful as well!
